Best of DC Blue Ribbon Digest #51 - Aug. 1984

sgThe strict Superman/Funny Stuff rotation was unofficially over with this digest, all about the Batman Family! While Binky, Funny Stuff, and Sugar & Spike would star in digests to come, DC started slotting in other subjects for the rest of Best of DC's run.

Behind a cover by Ed Hannigan and Dick Giordano(featuring a particularly enraged-looking Batman), the stories include:
"A Moon, A Poem, and Batman", an unusual one-page piece by Jim Starlin
the classic "Daughter of the Demon" by Denny O'Neil, Neal Adams, and Dick Giordano
a two-page pin-up called "Ragman Rumble" also by Starlin
Commissioner Gordon and Alfred in "Surprise, Surprise!" by Bob Rozakis, Carl Potts, and Frank McLaughlin
Man-Bat in "Dread Night of the Jaguar" by Rozakis, Marshall Rogers, and Terry Austin
Robin, Batgirl, and Man-Bat in "The Man Who Melted Manhattan!" by Rozakis, Don Newton, Rogers, and Bob Wiacek
another classic, "Night of the Reaper" by O'Neil, Adams, and Giordano (with a writing assist by Berni Wrightson and Harlan Ellison!)

...there's also a back cover of the Batman Family circa 1961(Bats, Robin, Gordon, Alfred, Bat-Mite, Bat-Girl, Bat-Woman, and Ace the Bat-Hound) that says its by Bob Kane, so we can be sure its by anyone but.

A really good collection, mixing the grim O'Neil/Adams Batman stories with lighter fare and some superb art(Marshall Rogers and Don Newton!).
